What motivates you every day?
My family, without question. Growing up without an ideal family situation, I have always placed a massive emphasis on being the best father and husband I can be. My greatest motivation is raising my kids to be kind, respectful humans who contribute positively to the world.
If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?
Golf. I love the idea of being able to go out and play a round with anyone, but I have never been able to commit the necessary hours to truly master the game. Perhaps that's a goal for the future!
What is a career "low point" that actually set you up for success?
Launching a financial services startup just before the 2008 recession was incredibly difficult. It forced me to completely reset my strategy and rebuild, but I emerged stronger and better prepared than before. The lessons I learned during that period were invaluable; while it was a time of immense stress and uncertainty, I can honestly say it was a defining moment that shaped the success I enjoy today.
What piece of advice would you give your younger self?
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Stay focused on your long-term plan and continue to do the right thing even when it's hard. It will all work out in the end.
What's a fun fact about yourself?
I love adventure, even though I'm not typically a huge risk-taker. My passion for the outdoors runs deep, from skiing, hiking, and wakeboarding to riding motorcycles and even skateboarding (I recently picked up a new board!). If it's fun and gets me outside, I'm in.
